Personally, I push buttons, turn knobs, move cables and flick switches in my live setup. There is nothing better than belting out a few tunes while being "fully" in control of the music...

FLAC is probably the best format... its an open format and unlikely to be restricted in the future. I use FLAC. If you choose to go with MP3 format, go for the Variable Bit Rate (VBR) encoding... it kicks ass over CBR. 192VBR is a good rate, not perfect, but very good. Most CDs compress to about 100...
