I must admit I do feel a sense of entitlement. I pay through the nose with tax - always have! So I feel perfectly justified in putting some of it back up my nose, so to speak. heh. I've never received a handout from the government ever...I recall when I came back from travelling all those years ago with not a cent to my name, I got SFA from CentreLink or whoever, and was told to ask my parents to support me til I found a job! FFS - I was an independent 23yr old loooooong past asking the parentals for money. Anyway, I'm gonna take this $900 and thoroughly enjoy it! :killah: Thanks Ruddy!

(in reality, it'll probably go to credit card debt repayments, but I enjoy the fantasy of blowing it on a good time)

Severely overdue servicing of the zoom bus. I think it was due like 10,000ks ago or something. Too many missions to bush gatherings hehe.

And if there is any left, an extra truck battery and capacitor so I can finally plug in all my amps n subs!

And some whisky.

I do owe like $7k in tax though, so not sure if I get it or if they will just take it off my debt. No one seems to know this for certain…

Well yes that's my reality too - I spent before I got.

But seriously, when you stumble upon a Snowgum outlet with clothes at 80% off, then Kathmandu has a sale, then you fall into another bargain clearance store what the hell is a girl supposed to do?

has anyone heard about the civil rights activist who is taking the payout decision to court? I wonder why he would do this? some say it is shut-up money. a govt. bribe. still, is hard to see the fault unless we suffer at tax time...

The basis of his argument is that technically spending revenue raised by taxation on a gift is unconstitutional. The stimulus package is a gift, not a tax benefit. it will happen anyways.

I'm spending mine on crack and dancing girls.

It says 'You must lodge your 2007-2008 tax return by 30 June 2009. You will not be eligible if you do not lodge by this date,...'

^^yeah I’ve done my return, just ended up owing tonnes again:(
But considering the whole purpose of this scheme is for us to spend money, I’m hoping they give me the cash, rather than take it off my debt:p

It has just been announced that we will be getting the $900

http://business.smh.com.au/business/hig ... -9ll5.html

Hmm... I might do the complete opposite of what they want me to do and use it to pay off debt or save it...

yeah - it's not a tax bonus though. As I understand it, people got Centrelink bonuses too: single income families, farmers and back to school.

The Australian Government has allocated $12.2 billion towards targeted bonus payments to assist households and support economic growth in 2008-09.

The payments include a $900 Single Income Family Bonus, $950 Farmers’ Hardship Payment, $950 Back to School Bonus and a $950 Training and Learning Bonus.

Nah, just work 2 jobs, and accounts at both don’t seem to take enough tax out of my pay.

I think it’s mainly cause while I do earn over $fifitysomething thousand between the 2, neither takes out money I owe from hecs at uni, cos they only do this if you earn over $45k I think. Something like that anyway.

I’m thinking it’s time after the next tax return, to register event company business number n such, and write off everything I spend on stuff like decors etc.
Could make a little difference.
Bastards take way too much of my money!

Will need business number etc in the next year anyway if we go ahead with organising an event the proper legit way…
