The Winter Solstice Celebration & Sustainable Lifestyle Gathering will be held from June 18-21, 2010, at Sugarbag Station in Far Nth Queensland.

We are now entering our 5th year of celebration & are very proud to announce that we will be returning to Sugarbag Station for this years gathering.

The Freeform Collective would like to take this opportunity to thank each & every individual who cast a vote in the recent "TimeOUT" awards.
We feel very honored & humbled to firstly receive a nomination into the awards, let alone winning the category for Best Festival.

We also send out a very warm thank-you to everyone, who over the last 4yrs, has shared in our vision & have either volunteered, performed or dedicated their time & energy to help create & facilitate our Winter Solstice Gathering.

We could never have sustained ourselves without you & we really do appreciate your help!

This is the write up in the Cairns Post today :applause: :- http://www.cairns.com.au/timeoutawards

WINTER SOLSTICE FESTIVAL -
BEST FESTIVAL

In the expanse of the Australian outdoor festival culture, Winter Solstice Lifestyle Gathering holds a special place in the hearts and minds of punters from not only Cairns, but from around the country and indeed the globe as well. The annual event, in its fourth year in 2009, was one of the region’s biggest and most creative festivals, attracting well over a hundred acts, performers, healers and artists over four days and three nights in the rugged beauty of the Atherton Tablelands. The thing about Winter Solstice is that it’s much more than a Far North Queensland event, instead being one of Australia’s premier alternative life style festivals with a strong focus on entertainment for all the ages and a holistic festival experience. Thousands of punters have been known to travel from interstate and overseas just to attend, proving it’s not only one of the region’s top music and arts events, but a global tourism drawcard as well. With a broad range of musical styles – from electronic music to live bands and solo acts – as well as roving performers, fire shows, healing areas, sustainability exhibitions and market stalls, Winter Solstice definitely deserves its spot as the winner of the Best Festival in the timeOUT Awards 2009.

He has earned a BFA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art (Baltimore) and a MFA in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design (Boston) and the Fine Arts Work Center (Provincetown).
He is based in Marysville, Pennsylvania and travels extensively. For a decade he has been conducting his visions into books, magazines, documentaries, album covers, galleries, personal commissions, etc.

C'mon Sydney - put down ur hot water bottles and come join us for our 5th Anniversary Celebration!

At this stage it looks like your representation consists of Nath, Sharon and Bindi ;) We've secured the quality, now wheres the quantity?

For all the Syd crew that previously thought Cairns parties are nothing but prog, check out this years lineup, you will be pleasantly surprised...

Hooray for more than 1 person responding to our thread on Australiens this year - onward and upward ;)

And just to let you know, this year we have added a beach, irrigation & taps throughout the site, an onland regatta and a massive lineup of workshops and activities...

1 month to go kids - got your flights? tickets?

hehe thanks!! my 3rd year now & it's one of my favourite Oz festivals!

you also forgot to mention 5 stages!! (that's still correct isn't it??)
a beach also sounds great! the water was cold, but very refreshing last year & I'm sure the 'onland regatta' will provide heaps of laughs!

VERY much looking forward to this, and seeing all my port douglas/cairns/QLD crew again!! :bounce:

Hmmm, thats only a 2 day drive. Plus a 1 day drive from Syd. Could be fun. But coming back home for a 3 day drive after a party might not be...

How much does it cost to fly up there and how far is the party away from town? Are there hire cars up there? Do they still have mokes up there? I would love to drive a old moke to a doof.
