We have discussed this.

I still think the spiritual development made there was worth the feudal pricetag.

But don't worry, in 20 years it'll be middle class China's boutique retreat Getaway.

To some extent Tibet is already a holiday destination for many wealthier Chinese.

Certainly there was a huge amount of spiritual development there, but the common people really suffered at the hands of the monks. I guess I'd rather sing the party song than live in a theocracy.
