Oh man wish i was there - last year was so much fun ~ I mean a free festival in the heart of Newtown, how can you go wrong?!
There was some good Aussie hip hop last year and a mad world music stage - not everything has to be psy all the time

haha i hassled them for ages to let us do one and they didn't seem keen on it. no comment from them on music. perhaps they're just limiting the number of stages?
good way to stop it turning into another trash fest though i suppose...
ala surry hills festival/earthdance/sydney festival etc.
missed it this year:( bet it was fun though!

Go back through the archives Stevo & read what happened last time there was a "psy stage" at Newtown festival. or maybe someone who was there will be kind enough to add comment

I remember a few psy stages at Spewtown Festy over a couple of years (I think- memory not all it used to be) in the wooded area in the corner.
As I recall it one year when it came to shutdown the festival organisers got hassled and insulted and shit, so the policy is no more psytrance. This sucks but you can see their point.
Myself, I'm looking forward to my regular Psytrance wednesdays at Cross Club in Prague tomorrow, then on Friday its off to this http://www.clubstyx.cz/ for a psychedellic carnival. You will like the (permenant) mushroom decor in the club.

From memory (which isn't very good) one year it went on a little longer and bigger than was meant to and the powers that be weren't too happy. I think there was more too it than that but I don't even remember what happened yesterday let alone back then.
Every year since then the topic comes up on Australiens - has become a tradition

I remember going to Newtown fest when the Liquid Labyrinth crew (i think they were called) were putting on the psy stage. (Liquid lab lounge)I wasnt that familiar with Sydney psy scene then as I had just newly arrived from Coffs Harbour .
Can anyone tell me anything about them. I can remember seing wiked new years doof flyers around 8 yrs ago for a Glenworth valley party that I was keen to go to but they got shut down 2 yrs in a row due to bush fires in the area.
They had these kewl big white balls they used for decor at the newtown fest and i remember they used them in a warehouse party and had projections of fractal visuals on them that looked awesome like they were 3D orbs..

my fondest memory of liquid lab was the NYE '03 at Glenworth Valley where Rez sent the windows start up tones echoing across the site about 5 times in a row.
good times.
