If you want to avoid this 80km stretch of insane mountain driving:

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&saddr=Jamieson+Licola+Rd&daddr=-37.600904,146.581993&hl=en&geocode=FdT9xv0dZtq2CA%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=12&sll=-37.570977,146.531868&sspn=0.199734,0.44632&ie=UTF8&ll=-37.446516,146.465607&spn=0.400134,0.892639&t=h&z=11

, then I'd suggest going past Canberra and south from there like this:

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&saddr=george+street,+sydney&daddr=Monaro+Hwy+to:licola,+vic&hl=en&geocode=%3BFRJm1f0d3sDkCA%3B&mra=mr&mrcr=0&via=1&sll=-35.748865,148.589345&sspn=6.543074,14.282227&ie=UTF8&ll=-36.235412,149.359131&spn=6.502735,14.282227&t=h&z=7.

It's comparable distance, and possibly quicker due to less hair-pins!

Mind you, that mountain pass looks like it would be a beautiful drive! Drive safely, whichever way you choose! :)

Yeah I got the email too and was instantly suspicious of a domain name that seemed to have nothing to do with tribadelic.

Personally I am so stoked Licola is getting used as a site it is ludicrous. Licola is the only privately owned town in Victoria and is owned and run by the Lions club. Yes, Tribeadelic has hired an entire town! It exists solely to bring some joy into the lives of the most underprivileged kids in Victoria. Children who really suffer- fostered children, abused children, those with unspeakable home lives and no opportunity to be children are taken by the Lions club to this amazing wilderness village and given a week of friendship, understanding, love, compassion and FUN! Some of my happiest, and saddest, personal memories are of volunteering as a counselor for these children some fifteen years ago. They hire the site out to other groups to generate income to keep the place running.

So I urge everyone to do their part to make sure they want us back. Our community has the opportunity here to generate revenue for an incredibly worthy cause. Please respect the no glass and no dog rules. There is a small shop opposite the site that will be open not quite 24hrs but will be stocking lots of gear you may need- some camping gear, ice, beer, cigs, a hot pie or a choccy bar. Let's give Mary a 12mth profit in 3days- she's a lurvely old chook and we have to do something to make up for the noise she thinks she prepared for! She is guaranteed to give you all a bit of a laugh as well :)

And a massive  and thanks to Oz for seeing the potential of the town and choosing to do something for a very worthy cause. There's some big karma points in this one :D

w00t party

This post is a bit late, but I flew back to Melbourne for Christmas from Tokyo where I'm currently now and was ready to rock back into the outdoor scene here to find... no parties between nye and rainbow!

so i'm desparate to get to tribeadelic this year but none of my friends are going... i'm wondering if anyone would care to lend share some camp space with a fellow psy'er? i would be keen to discuss all i've experienced from the japan scene so far, as well as all sorts of worldly and unworldly goodness. i'm a grad student studied all things from creative writing (some stuff at http://diamondsky.org) to japanese to physics... there's bound to be a common world we came from ;)

a word to admin0@diamondsky.org would be so much appreciated! hope to be back in the heat of things soon!

The info site says that camping onsite is limited. Any idea when it might get full?. We plan to arrive on the evening of the 30th. If camping off site is what we have to do, how far from off site to venue? I looked at google maps and place looks fairly open.
